2019 Tacloban City Sports Awards Night
LOOK: Some 16 Taclobanons, who bagged medals in the different National Sports Competitions, received recognition on Monday, December 23 during the 2019 City Sports Awards Night held at City Engineer’s Office (CEO) Gym.
According to City Sports Office Coordinator Carlos Dave Castello, the said recognition is part of the local government’s motivation for their hard work and for bringing fame and honor to Tacloban.
Among the awardees who received certificate of appreciation are Peter Torres, Sally Mae Aguirre, Jesiah Noelle Bagarino, Yvannah Mae Noriega, Ashlee Nicole Abeo, Renzel Jyron Sevilla, Addie Andrei Arquilita, Paula Julia Alfon, Kish Miguel Laboy, Kara Mae Granados, Jose Vincent Francisco, Dave Manuel Esperanze Tingzon, Yvaine Delos Reyes Osias, Dwayne Assuncion and Isaac Assuncion.
The awardees also include athletes namely; Kurt Pajuelas and Aira C. Villegas, who have brought pride not just in the City, but also to the Philippines in the recently concluded 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Both SEA Games bronze medalists, Pajuelas competed for Taekwondo Men’s under 63 kg category, while Villegas in Boxing women division.
“We are deeply happy and thankful. It has been our pride to carry the name of our country, especially our City. We just hope to bring home more medals for the glory of the City in the next competitions that we will be joining in, ” Villegas expressed when asked how they felt after they won such sports events.
Meanwhile, the City Government under the leadership of Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez vows to support our homegrown athletes for their future competitions.
Also present during the awarding ceremony were the coaches and presidents of the different Sports Associations in this City.
