Accomplishments

  • 7,911 pieces SWM flyers were distributed during the barangayan activities benefiting the constituents of the 138 barangays. January – June 2007: 7,000 pcs. July – October 2007: 911 pcs.
  • 50 posters on waste segregation theme were given to establishments and organizations within Tacloban City.
  • 9 film showing sessions conducted to different venues and had accounted a total of 1,900 viewers from the month of July to October 2007, to wit;
    • The Inconvenient Truth
    • Ozzy Ozone
    • Water Conservation
    • Solid Waste Management
  • Occasions and areas benefiting the show were the Barangayan Program, San Jose Central School, Mercyville, BLISS Nula-tula and Gmiener Elem. Schools, and a number of government and private institutions.
  • Two major projects had been launched in support of Limpyo Tacloban Progam, to wit
    • Bio-waste Composting Project which aimed to address the increasing volume of biodegradable materials generated in the supermarket area.
    • Eco-Bulilit Savers Club implemented in three (3) public schools (Nula-tula, Mercyville and Herman Gmeinner Elementary Schools) which aims to institutionalize the SWM concept to the pupils at the same time provide an avenue for additional financial benefits derived from the project.
  • There were 20 lectures on environmental related topics including Ecological Solid Waste Management conducted in the barangays, schools/institutions, City Hall Compound and other offices.
  • Ten (10) Special Program Employee Students (SPES) and 70 WAP (Workers Amelioration Program) of the City were able to attend the orientation and lectures on environmental issues in local and global perspective..
  • Three (3) clean-up drives had been conducted in collaboration with various government (local and national), private and civic organizations. These were held in Mangonbangon River, Tanghas–Lirang River and Coastal Areas of Tacloban City in support to the different international, regional and local mandates such as the Earth Day Celebration, International Coastal Clean-Up Day and the like.
