Accomplishments

  • A total of 20 meetings had been facilitated with the concerned informal sector group who had availed the program on Community-based Bio-Waste Composting Project in Sto. Niño, Tacloban City.
  • The City ENRO had drafted, prepared and finalized eight (8) project proposals and plans.
    • Proposals:
      • Mangrove Development Project – submitted to NEDA for foreign funding
      • Fuel Wood Plantation Project – submitted to NAPC for funding
      • Bio-Remediation Technology Using Vetiver Grass in polluted soil such as Tacloban City Dumpsite
      • Bio-waste Composting Pilot Project (Market Bio-waste)
    • Plans:
      • Tigbao-Diit Watershed Management (Final Plan)
      • 10-year Tacloban Solid Waste Management Plan (Final Plan)
      • State of Environmental Report (SoER) of Tacloban City (Final Report)
      • Coastal Resource Management Plan (Draft)
  • Two (2) major projects implemented, to wit:
    • Eco-Bulilit Savers Club Project.
      • Three (3) public elementary schools had participated and supported the project
      • To date, an amount of PhP3,632.60 had been generated by the project.
    • Bio-Waste Composting Project
      • Bio-waste composting facility is on-going at Brgy. Abucay.
      • Five (5) huge compost boxes (5 m x 3 m x 1) had been piled-up with shredded bio-waste materials from the market, (about 190 tons of bio-waste materials were diverted and converted into useful resources (soil enhancer).
      • Additional job has been created through the employment of five (5) additional Job Order (JO) employees residing in the vicinity.
  • 800 seedlings of various fruit and forest tree species planted in respective areas;
    • Brgy. Palanog: 500 Mahogany seedlings
    • New Abucay Bus Terminal: 300 Langka seedlings were planted however, due to unpredicted harsh weather conditions, only 60% survived. Thus, replanting of 116 seedlings had been conducted to replace the vacant hills/spots.
