Accomplishments
-
A sampling activity on soil and water had been conducted in Suhi River at Barangay San Isidro. The activity aimed to determine the contamination level of the river both chemically and bacteriologically based from DENR and DOH standards.
-
Findings acquired:
- Bacteriology analysis:
- On the result issued by the EVRGC laboratory, the water draining in Suhi River is positive for thermotolerant coliform bacteria. Thus, the river is not safe for domestic use.
- Chemical analysis
- Based on the results issued by the Central Analytical Services Laboratory in ViSCA, Baybay Leyte, Cadmium (Cd) shows significant level of toxicity.
- A study on water discharge had been conducted in Suhi River and Barugwan River located in barangays San Isidro and Cabalawan, respectively. Based on the results, the total water discharge of the 2 rivers is 1.47 MCM (million cubic meters) which is very par below compared to the water requirements in the locality.
Impacts
