Tacloban City joins pre-Balyuan rites

Tacloban City – The City Government of Tacloban City headed by its City Mayor Alfred Romualdez , city officials and employees  will be joining the entourage in holding the Pre-Balyuan Rites on  June 18, 2010 (Friday) at Basey, Samar.

Together with  Sto. Niño  Church  clergy, its parishioners  and the  Hermano Mayor 2010 Heirs of Dalmacio & Margarita Agaton Srs.  represented by Carolina  Agaton,   EL TENIENTE Sr. Sto. Niño de Tacloban will be brought  to Basey, Samar in a motorcade  for a simple ceremonial rites.

Departing Tacloban on June 18 at exactly 8o’clock in the morning, El Teniente Sr. Sto. Niño de Tacloban will be met by Basey municipal government headed by its  Municipal Mayor Wilfredo Estorninos and Baseynon.

Upon its arrival in Buscada,, Basey, Samar,   showering of flowers will welcome El Teniente Sr. Sto. Niño de Tacloban a tribute in paying homage to its image. It wqill be  followed by a motorcade around the municipality of Basey accompanied by Basey street dancers.

A thanksgiving mass will be held at the Old Church of Barangay Buscada, Basey, Samar. It’s a belief that the Sr. Sto. Nino de Tacloban stayed in said church during those time.

A little get together among Taclobanons  and Baseynon is expected to partake right after   the mass at Buscada Church.

El Teniente Sr. Sto. Nino de Tacloban will be brought back to Tacloban on June 20 Balyuan Rites.

The Pre-balyuan rites is an annual ceremony to showcase the religious and cultural practices done by the settlers of Basey Samar of which Tacloban was ones a barrio of said municipality. The affair is part of the SANGYAW Festival activities to honor  Tacloban City patron Sr. Sto. Nino de Tacloban.
