Daycare pupils receive early Christmas gifts from City Gov’t
TACLOBAN CITY (CIO) – With Christmas just around the corner, the City Government under the leadership of Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez brought yuletide cheers to pre-school kids on Wednesday through its annual gift-giving activity.
Daycare pupils and their parents from Area 9, Cluster A Daycare Centers trooped to the Community Gym in Brgy Bagacay, Tacloban City for the activity which has become a tradition of the City Government every December.
The Mayor’s son, Raymund Romualdez graced the event to personally hand in the gifts to the children, assisted by City Social Welfare and Development Development Office (CSWDO) Officer-in-Charge Fe Chona Bahin and the child development workers of the different barangays.
A total of 738 daycare pupils from 12 Barangays of Area 9 Cluster A, namely 12 Palanog, 37- A Palanog, 94 Tigbao, 94-A Basper, 99 Diit, 100 Scandinavian, 101 Kawayan, 103 Palanog, 104 Salvacion, 106 Triple Gem, 106 Habitat, and 107 Sta. Elena received gifts that included toys, and candies in the first of a series of gift-giving activities that will be held in the different daycare centers of the City.
According to the CSWDO, the activity is part of the Early Childhood Care and Development Program of the City Government that includes the upkeep and maintenance of the City’s 68 Daycare Centers. These Child Care Centers cater to over 2,000 children ages 3 to 4 years in Tacloban.
Meantime, Area 7, which is composed of 9 barangays, is scheduled to have its gift-giving activity on Thursday at the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) Gym. –H.J. Roca/CIO
