Mayor Romualdez supports BRIGADA ESKWELA 2021
“As the father of the city, as your mayor, you have my full support. I am all ears, listening to what your ideas are. Let’s blend in together so we can now come up with better solutions, and most of all, we can guide our people properly.”
These are the words of Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez when he highlighted the significant role of the schools in Tacloban in educating the public on dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, during the Brigada Eskwela 2021 Kick-off today, August 5, 2021. This, according to the city mayor, was one of the reasons why Tacloban has never been a Covid-19 epicenter among Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs).
The Local Chief Executive, in his speech, congratulated the agency for a job well done in the past school year. He applauded their innovativeness, dedication and resilience amidst the challenges of the new normal educational system.
He then emphasized the importance of education in fighting poverty pointing out ignorance as one of the major reasons for its predominance. “I am proud of the Taclobanons.
I am proud of the people of Eastern Visayas. Kahit marami sa atin ay mahirap, marunong tayong mamuhay. ‘Yan ang importante,” says the mayor.
Mayor Romualdez, who has always placed education among his top priorities, was thanked by the City DepEd thru SDS Dr. Mariza S. Magan, for being a strong pillar and support in all their programs.Meantime, as per DepEd Order No. 029 s. 2021 which was released last August 5, 2021, SY 2021-2022 officially starts on September 13, 2021 and ends on June 24, 2022, with 209 school days.
