MORE AGRICULTURAL PROGRAMS AND OPPORTUNITIES AWAIT
Strengthening programs like waste management, agriculture, food security, livelihood stability, and agri-tourism in Tacloban City were among the highlighted concerns discussed by Mayor Alfred Romualdez with Mr. Boyen Castillejos, when he visited Pitahaya Farm today, August 10, 2021.
Meanwhile, Mr. Castillejos, the owner and trainer of Pitahaya, a TESDA and DA-ATI accredited farm school, emphasized to the City Mayor the potentials of organic farming and “vermicomposting” which they have been imparting to their students/trainees.
The trainer further pointed out the biodegradable market wastes collection activity which their practicumers have been regularly conducting at the Tacloban Supermarket for their vermicomposting output.
Mayor Romualdez, in his vision to see more Taclobanons embrace agriculture for food security and livelihood stability, assured more scholarship slots to be sponsored by the city government.
