Tacloban jins bag medals in National Taekwondo tournament in Manila
TACLOBAN CITY (CIO) – Taclobanon jins made their presence felt in the 2019 National Age Group Taekwondo Championships held on September 7-8, 2019 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, in Pasay, Metro Manila.
The jins, coming from the Tacloban Taekwondo Warriors, bagged one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
Handing in gold via the cadet black belt division was Sally Mae Aguirre, while, Ashlee Nicole Abeo impressed with a silver medal in the children novice category.
The bronze medals were clinched by Lorelie Davines in the junior division and Renzel Jyron Sevilla in the cadet novice.
Meanwhile, Aguirre thanked the local government under Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez for the support that they are receiving since from the start of their competition.
“I am just grateful that the city government fully supports the sports development program. It’s a really big help. I just hope that this will continue to ensure a brighter future for athletes like me,” she said.
The annual two-day nationwide event was set to let martial arts enthusiasts show their wares and highlight the progress of Philippine Taekwondo throughout the country. – C. Merin/CIO
