TACLOBAN CITY (CIO) — The Tacloban City Government under Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez had conducted a dry-run of the two proposed traffic schemes on Old Road Sagkahan and Real Street to help ease heavy traffic during rush hours.

According to the Officer-in-Charge of the Traffic Operations, Management, Enforcement, and Control Office (TOMECO), Engr. Dionisio De Paz the dry run started last Saturday (September 7) to get the volume of Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) plying the said areas.

He also added that this was intended to know which of the two proposed traffic schemes will be effective in reducing traffic woes here in the city.

“Mayda kasi duha nga option, an usa an odd-even number nga mayda la adlaw nga pwede makaagi ha Old Road Sagkahan, ngan mayda la liwat adlaw na pwede umagi ha Real. An usa liwat nga scheme an pagdetermine an ira ruta. So ine it babasehan kun ano nga scheme it aton bubuhaton,” explained the official.

As the dry-run continues, De Paz appeals for public understanding and apologized for any inconvenience.

“Ha mga waray makasabot ine nga kasugaran, maaro la kami hin pasensya. An aton man la gud panuyuan in masulbar an incoming ngan outgoing nga sobra kadamo hin volume na mga sarakyan,” he said.

TOMECO will announce on Wednesday, September 11, which traffic scheme will be implemented to address the traffic jams in the city. – C. Merin/CIO
